Online Donations & Purchases

Hey there everyone - I just found a great way to help all of you, especially those who are not living very close to us, to be able to help with our fundraising projects. I hope this is helpful for all of you. There is a small fee associated with this way, but it is a small price to pay for the convience that this affords us all.

Thank you all for your support both financially as well prayerfully.

Support Letter

Hi, my name is Misty Woods, I am a Junior at Manhattan Christian School in Churchill, MT. I am known as the:
  • daughter of Dan & Cheri (Kamps) Woods and the late Debra (Siegfried) Woods

  • granddaughter of John & Lidea Mae Kamps, Mary Ellen & the late Philip Woods, and Phyllis & the late Bob Siegfried.

  • Sister to Michael Woods & Barbara(Barbie) Raul-Fletcher, Konnie Woods, Trisha (Woods) & Matt Hall, & Marian Woods

  • Aunt to Damian Fletcher, Connor & Annabell Woods, and Dusty & Trenton Hall

  • Neice and Cousin and Friend to alot of others.

So if this is forwarded to you, it may be from one of them, and I may not know you personally, but I appreciate you taking the time to read this and if you feel so inclined to help me, then bless you.

I am writing to you because I am thrilled to update you on the most recent developments in my life. I was recently recommended and accepted to participate as a student leader in the People to People Student Ambassador Program. I will be going to Europe in the summer of 2010. This 14-day exchange consists of meetings with government officials, interaction with other high school students, visits to historical and cultural places, educational activities, and the ability to see different cultures and people in their natural habitat.

In case you haven’t heard of People to People, President Dwight D. Eisenhower founded People to People in 1956. He believed that if people from different cultures could come together in peace and friendship, so eventually would nations. The People to People Ambassador Program offers unique travel opportunities for personal and professional growth and continuing education. This organization has been the most recognized and respected educational travel provider for over 50 years. They offer hands-on, fun-filled programs that feature unparalleled access to extraordinary people and places, without which a majority of the students would have never had access.

People to People Ambassadors candidates are carefully interviewed and evaluated before their acceptance into the program, and I am honored to have been selected. I am extremely proud to be representing Manhattan Christian School as an Ambassador to the world. I am looking forward to sharing my experience from beginning to end with my peers, family, and friends. As an Ambassador, I can earn high school and college credit because of the many educational elements in my program. This educational experience will increase my understanding of the world and give me the opportunity to learn firsthand about new places and cultures. Such knowledge will help me become the best citizen I can be.

I am currently asking my family and friends for financial sponsorship to help me with tuition and expenses, and I hope I can count on your support. The program tuition and expenses amount that I need to raise is $7500; this includes meals, transportation, accommodations, and educational activities. I am asking people to donate to help me reach my goal. Is it possible for you to assist me by making a contribution? I have started a blog and this special page on Facebook to document my highlights and to keep everyone informed as to my progress throughout this adventure. I plan to share my experience with friends and family when I return by presenting my journal and photographs.

To make a contribution there are several ways that you can do that. Please contact me, or my mom Cheri, and we can get you the information. Our contact info is listed below. Your generous contribution will enable me to share in this wonderful opportunity. Thank you in advance for your gracious consideration and support.

Come see us on April 24th at the Amsterdam Fire Department Building for All-You-Can-Eat Spaghetti Dinner & Silent Auction from 5 - 8. Also, we are doing a raffle for a 1/2 of Beef or a Whole Pig with the drawing on May 16, 2010. Tickets are $5 each or 3/$12. Need not be present to win. We also have Butter Braids in 7 different varieties for $12 each. Both are available by contacting us or at the dinner/auction. Hope to see you all.

Walking in Faith,
Misty Woods - P2P Ambassador

Another Meeting

Went to Helena for another meeting. In the meeting we went over how to use the on board website better and how to find info. Plus we kinda got homework lol. After this we once again were separated into our groups and from the parents. In our groups we were put into groups of three they gave us each a little paper that we had to right down a bummer that could happen on the trip. Then we were given two more papers that we wrote down solutions to that bummer. Some that the groups including ours came up with were getting lost, broken luggage, lost ticket or money, etc. We discussed what we were to do in these situations and how to deal with them. It was a very helpful meeting and am getting more excited. Can't wait for the next meeting.. oh and will be having more fundraisers. I will keep posting them in order to help me go on this trip of a life time. Feel free to donate can use whatever i can get. prayers help too. Thanks and post you later!!

Success - Finished with pies!

It was a success! On Wednesday November 25th I helped my "pie making" Grandma make 29 pies. I mostly just helped core & peel and then cut the apples.  Plus, then I would put in all the ingredients with the cut apples then my Grandma would role out the crusts, place the apples and the ingredients in the crusts. Oh and lets not forget my Grandpa and mom (Cheri) helped me with the apples!! All in all, it was a great experience for me! Now I can make some good pies!! It was a great start to my whole People to People experience, showing me how much support there is out there for me in this, and i can't wait to do more fundraising. THANK YOU to all who purchased a pie or two, it was a big help to me and boosted my confidence that I can earn all I need to. I still need to raise a lot more but even more than that I definitely need and covet your prayers and encouragement.

I will be doing more fundraisers so be sure to keep your eyes and ears peeled for the details.  In fact be sure to look for me and/or my mom (Cheri) Friday the 4th at the Belgrade Christmas Stroll by Lee & Dad's  and on Saturday the 5th at the Bozeman Christmas Stroll (location unsure) giving out Hot Cocoa and selling Raffle tickets for a gun, a 1/2 of beef, or a 1/2 of pig and some other prizes.  You can buy the tickets through me as well.  Watch for my raffle flyer to be coming out soon.

I promise to try to blog more regularly, it just seems that with my schedule of school, cheerleading, work, & basic life stuff, it sometimes gets difficult to keep up with everything. God bless and post you later.

Been Busy...

Time seems to be flying by. Got the letters worked on and a copy posted on Facebook. Got my first  report card back from school and it was once again good. My teachers are excited for me and are continuing to encourage and pray for me. Also this past week, I was very encouraged when someone mentioned that they have seen peoples lives change by an experience such as this. It makes me think how my life can change and makes me view it different. I am looking forward to closing the pies fundraiser this week and making them next Tuesday. Don't forget to get orders in by Friday. Keep you posted. Thanks again for the support.

First Orientation Meeting

Yesterday we, my mother and I, had a successful meeting with our new group in Helena.  After signing in we were handed a piece of paper numbered 1-16 to identify the 16 pictures hanging around the room.  They were pictures of some of the different places that we will be going during our trip.  They, the leaders Bob and Barb, talked to us about fundraising and some of the logistics of the trip.  We heard from an Ambassador Alumni who will be going on this trip with us as well. Then we were seperated into groups - High School (HS), Middle School (MS), and parents in order to get to know one another better.

We have 14 HS students from the Bozeman/Butte/Helena/Dillon areas.  We are 13 girls and 1 really tall guy.  My group was put into pairs.  Then we were handed a piece of paper and had to interview our partner.  We asked general questions to get to know what they liked and a little about who they were. After the interviews were done we had to introduce them to our HS group.  The parents discussed fund raising and have some neat ideas, that will be talked about later.

Then we were joined back up as a full group again, went over the last few things on the agenda and were dismissed.  We will be going to Helena once a month to meet with the others as a group.  Attendance at these meetings are mandatory to create the full experience and be ready to leave in the summer.

Over all, I would say it was an interesting meeting and to meet new people is always an interesting venture.  I am already looking forward to the next meeting.  My excitement level seems to raise after every new venture.  I can't wait to share more with you.  Have a great day and thanks already for the support.
